Insulated flex duct is used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. Two common types of insulated flex are R-Value 6.0 and R-Value 8.0 coils. Built with a tough double lamination of polyester, the coils are sheathed in durable tri-directional scrim. The airtight core in the coils is formed with a steel wire helix. Both 6.0 and 8.0 coils are designed for indoor use and low to medium pressure air conditioning and heating. Sleeve connectors, ranging in size from 5 to 12 inches, are available for both types of coils. Cheaper to use than non-flexible ductwork, the insulated products can reduce energy consumption and lower utility expenses.

Uninsulated flex is lightweight and relatively easy to install. Choosing and designing the right flex duct system for your home or office is essential to the overall operation of your heating and central air conditioning units. Used with sleeve connectors like the 14 inch metal connector, uninsulated flex can be cut to specifications, making it possible for you to develop customized ducts. The triple ply duct wall is tough, built to withstand low to medium pressure. This flex duct can be used with distribution systems, mixing boxes, light troffers and connecting ducts. Installing these products will lower airflow resistance.
